Founder Story
The idea of The Work & Wonder Café grew out of lived experience. After more than 15 years in the childcare industry, our founder witnesses a significant shift following the COVID-19 pandemic. Childcare costs rose sharply, family priorities evolved, and more parents expressed a desire to stay closely connected to their children, especially during the early years. At the same time, many parents still needed support.
It became clear that while full-day childcare will always be essential for many families, it is not always the most beneficial or economical option for every season of parenthood.
As flexible and remote work become more common, parents began trying to make work and caregiving happen at home. While this allowed for closeness, it also revealed how difficult it is to fully focus, create or study while caring for young children. Families were navigating a growing gap between traditional childcare models and the realities of modern family life.
The Work & Wonder Café was created to fill that gap.
Rather than replacing full-day childcare, we offer an additional option, one designed for families who want to remain present with their children while still receiving intentional support and is more economically beneficial. Our session-based model provides structure without full separation, offering parents space to focus and children space to play, all within a shared rhythm.
We believe modern families benefit from choice. Some seasons call for full day childcare. Others call for something more flexible and aligned with how families live and work today.
The Work & Wonder Café exists to support families with young children by providing a space that meets both parent and child’s needs while recognizing the realities of modern parenthood.
